We realize that having a pet undergo general anesthesia can be a stressful experience for a pet owner, and in some cases, for pets. Kris Kruse-Elliott, DVM, Ph.D., DACVAA is our board-certified anesthesiologist and she is an expert in anesthetic management and minimizing risk—and stress—for your pet.

Administering anesthesia is a process that begins with careful planning and consideration of what a patient will need before, during, and after surgery to manage pain. At SAGE, a pet’s experience with anesthesia is similar to what their owner would experience in a human hospital. Here, Dr. Kruse-Elliott works with specialists and technicians throughout a pet’s hospitalization to ensure the anesthesia and pain management plan is tailored to their specific health issues.

Like all of our specialists, Dr. Kruse-Elliott continually seeks advanced training on new protocols and trends in anesthesiology. A former university-level educator, she is actively involved in sharing new information about anesthesiology and anesthesia monitoring with SAGE veterinarians and nursing staff. Dr. Kruse-Elliott is also available to advise referring veterinarians on pain management, anti-anxiety medications, sedation, pre-anesthetic testing and more, prior to the pet’s arrival at SAGE.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please wear a face covering when coming to SAGE. County health officials have ordered everyone to wear face coverings when out in public and visiting essential businesses.  This is for the safety of you, our team members, and community. Thank you!

As we continue to monitor the situation of Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are taking steps to help protect the health and well-being of our pet parents, partners, and team members.
