Dr. Ryan Wheeler attended Chico State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science, before going on to complete his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in St. Kitts. He furthered his clinical training through a rotation at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis and completed a small animal emergency and critical care internship at Angell Animal Medical Center.
Dr. Wheeler is a residency-trained emergency and critical care veterinarian with a strong clinical focus on fluid and electrolyte therapy, acid-base analysis, and the management of severe sepsis, septic shock, and traumatic injuries. He also has a particular interest in point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) as a diagnostic and monitoring tool in critical patients.
As part of the Critical Care team, Dr. Wheeler is dedicated to treating critically ill and injured animals during their most urgent moments, while also providing compassionate support and guidance to pet parents throughout their pets’ care.
