She has over a decade of hands-on experience working with exotic pet birds, reptiles, and fresh water aquariums. She has always loved animals and has a soft spot in her heart for rescues, and especially exotic and senior animals. Perla’s rescued pets have included a cat, an English budgerigar parakeet, a fancy rat, a veiled chameleon, a crested gecko, a betta fish, and a chinchilla.  She currently has an American singer canary, a society finch, a peach-faced lovebird, and a Meyer’s parrot named Max (shown in photo).  In her spare time, Perla enjoys drawing and painting.
