Making a Routine Appointment
Call 650-551-1115 or 800-427-5367 to make an appointment for your pet at either of our locations (just specify location when you call). We see patients on Saturday at both locations, and plan to have Thursday evening appointments in San Carlos available soon. Be aware that these premium appointments are often filled well in advance.

Our priority is the best possible care for your pet, so we will accommodate true ophthalmic emergencies. However, we are typically fully booked, so we reserve the right to triage your pet’s condition using information provided by you and your general veterinarian. We are an appointment only facility and do not accept unscheduled walk-ins.
If you believe that your regular veterinarian would want your pet to be seen sooner than we are offering, you may ask them to provide input by submitting a Case Summary Form directly to us by fax or email. If they have seen your pet for this problem, their opinion is highly valuable and they may choose to override our phone assessment.

Because our schedule is often booked weeks in advance, it may not always be possible for an urgent appointment to occur at your preferred location or with your usual doctor. In addition, we will be examining your pet between existing appointments, so you should anticipate a wait and we do charge an emergency fee. In return for accommodating your pet into our packed schedule, we ask for your understanding and patience in these matters.
Can my pet be seen for a routine exam by my favorite doctor at my nearest location?
Our typical doctor schedule, including days of week and locations worked is detailed below so you can plan ahead. Keep in mind that this is the typical weekly schedule and is not updated to reflect temporary schedule alterations made for holidays and vacations.
Simply request your preferred doctor and location when making your appointment by phone. However, we are often booked in advance, so if your preferred combination of doctor and location is not available in the recommended time interval, we ask that you be flexible in the best interest of your pet.
Appointment Policy – effective 4/1/21
For Consults – New clients will be required to leave a deposit of 25% of the consult fee at the time of scheduling. If it is necessary to cancel your scheduled appointment, we require that you call at least 24 hours in advance. Appointments are in high demand, and your early cancellation will allow another patient access to timely veterinary care. Clients who fail to show or cancels/reschedules an appointment and has not contacted our office with at least 24 hours’ notice will be considered a No Show. They then will be charged a 25% fee. This fee will be deducted from the deposit before it is refunded. If for any reason you need to cancel an appointment, please notify our office as a soon as possible.
For Surgery Appointments- 25% of your estimate is required as a deposit at the time of scheduling. Clients who fail to show or cancels/reschedules an surgery and has not contacted our office with at least 24 hours’ notice will be considered a No Show. They then will be charged 25% of their deposit. This fee will be deducted from the deposit before it is refunded. If for any reason you need to cancel an appointment.
As a courtesy, we will try to remind you of your appointment in advance by either phone or email, whichever you prefer. Reminders are performed 2 business days in advance of the appointment; therefore, if you do not check your email frequently, we suggest you request phone call reminders.
Cancelling Appointments – It is very important that you call within 24 hours in advance to cancel your appointment.
We kindly ask for a minimum of 24 hours notice for cancellation of scheduled appointments. Clients who repeatedly cancel last minute or fail to show up for appointments may be asked to pre-pay for future appointments.
Recheck Examinations and Refilling Medications
Recheck examinations will be planned to monitor your pet’s response to treatment and to detect any complications associated with the condition or the medications which have been prescribed. Even though some eye conditions may be chronic, with long-term treatment expected, it is still important that we examine the eyes periodically. The absolute maximum re-exam interval for pets on medications is 12 months, since we are legally prohibited from refilling medications after one year, but often more frequent exams are indicated.

For ethical and legal reasons, we can only refill medications for pets with which we have developed and maintained a valid veterinarian-client-patient relationship, which requires follow-up exams at appropriate intervals determined by the doctor based on the condition and it’s stability over time.
Payment is required at the time services are rendered or medications dispensed.
