Dr. Sara Lefman started her career in veterinary medicine at Hadley Farm at the University of Massachusetts, where she worked as a goat, camelid and equine caretaker (the camelid family includes camels and alpacas). Sara earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Veterinary and Animal Sciences from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and worked as a veterinary assistant before earning her DVM at Michigan State. It was there that she developed a passion for small animal emergency medicine and elected to pursue a rotating internship at Ohio State followed by an Emergency and Critical Care residency at the Animal Medical Center in New York City. Her internship and residency allowed her to mentor students and interns and participate in community outreach events in New York City.
Sara’s clinical interests include electrolyte disorders, toxicities and sepsis. Outside of the hospital, she enjoys running, Crossfit, traveling and spending time with her dog and two cats.
