Director, Employee Experience
Sam Castle-Scott joined SAGE in 2017. He started as our Human Resources Specialist and now leads the mission to create exceptional employee experiences at SAGE. In his role as Director, Employee Experience, Sam guides processes and strategies that support recruiting and retention. He is passionate about supporting individuals throughout their employee journey, starting with onboarding.
A Bay Area native raised in Santa Cruz, Sam started his Human Resources career in the San Francisco non-profit sector. Before coming to SAGE, he spent 16 years at Project Open Hand, an organization that provides nutritious meals to seniors, the disabled and critically ill individuals. At Project Open Hand, he had the good fortune to work with compassionate co-workers who made company culture and employee experience a top priority. There, he helped to build “the perfect work environment”—a place where respect, kindness and helpfulness were the standard. These are the ideals that he brings to the table as Director of Employee Experience at SAGE.
Outside of SAGE, Sam keeps very busy with his family and pets. He enjoys camping and hanging out with his wife Julie and their lively young daughter, Miette (whose name literally means “crumb” in French). He has two dogs—a Puggle named Taco and a Pit bull named Rover—and a cat the family lovingly calls Squirrelbait.
