Chief People Officer
Lisa Thompson oversees People and Culture at SAGE and works across the organization to guide the strategy and direction of employee experience, learning and development, and talent management.
Lisa is a Bay Area native—she grew up in Palo Alto and attended high school in San Jose.
She attended Mills College in Oakland, earning her BA in Psychology.
Following graduation from Mills, Lisa moved to the Midwest, where she earned her Masters and Ph.D. in Psychology at the University of Kansas and explored a lifelong interest in teaching, coaching and mentoring. She thrived in academia for several years and worked as a researcher and teacher at KU and at The Ohio State University. When it was time for a change, she returned to the Bay Area, worked as a research psychologist for a dot com for a short period and then moved to Mammoth Lakes, California. Lisa landed a job with Mammoth Mountain Resorts and led their HR department for 9 years.
In 2013, after five years of California’s historic drought that took a toll on the ski industry, she and her husband decided to move with their two young sons back to the Bay Area.
Lisa took a job with the San Francisco 49ers and spent 5 years in the high energy sports world where she rebuilt the 49ers HR department, helped open Levi Stadium, and much more.
Now at SAGE, Lisa is enjoying being part of an organization that cares for pets and their people.
She has three cats and three dogs. In her free time, Lisa enjoys spending time with her husband, Marc, and two sons Nathan and Liam, whether they’re out in nature, catching a movie or eating sushi.
