Dr. Sam Zaplinski is thrilled to be part of the SAGE emergency team. She has always been an animal lover, growing up with cats, dogs, hamsters, lizards, and birds – animals have always been an integral part of her life. She graduated from St. George’s University in Grenada and then did her clinical year training at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She also received her Master of Public Health in Infectious Diseases and Vaccinology from UC Berkeley. Since veterinary school Dr. Z has done a mix of general practice, emergency medicine, shelter medicine, and public health work. She loves the challenge and complexity of emergency medicine but mostly enjoys healing sick patients and strives to make each interaction with her patients and clients as stress free and collaborative as possible. In her free time she loves to do anything outdoorsy, cook, do yoga, and plan her next travel adventure. She lives in San Mateo with her partner and houseful of great animals – Marley her border collie, and 2 cats, Cora and Monty.
