Dr. Rachel Kuester started her career as a veterinary technician in Bel Air, Maryland. She continued as a technician for more than 10 years, and actively pursued her interests in veterinary medicine, studying Biology and Functional Biology of Animals at schools in the Baltimore area. She traveled to St. Kitts, West Indies for veterinary school and earned her DVM at Ross University in 2011. She returned to Maryland and worked in General Practice for a several years before moving the Bay Area, where she has worked in small mammal medicine and surgery. Dr. Kuester enjoys working with small mammals and using low-stress handling strategies to make visits less stressful for them and for their owners.
In her free time, Dr. Kuester plays the guitar and the piano and enjoys reading and making pottery. She has two cats, Edgar and Louise, and a dog named Mabel.
