SAGE Veterinary Centers expands their community of hospitals through new partnership with Veterinary Specialists of Alaska

SAGE Veterinary Centers (“SAGE”), the leading specialty and emergency veterinary organization on the West Coast, is pleased to announce it has once again expanded outside of California.  SAGE has added another partner location with Veterinary Specialists of Alaska (“VSOAK”), the first established multi-specialty veterinary referral practice in the entire state of Alaska.  The partnership expands SAGE’s veterinary care model to further service offerings and provide patients with the best comprehensive specialty veterinary care possible.

From humble beginnings as Alaska Veterinary Surgical Services, started in September 1996, Veterinary Specialists of Alaska was established in 2003 after the completion of their state-of-the-art hospital and the addition of other specialty services.  Over the past 16 years they have given back to their community by providing specialized veterinary medicine, moved forward on the cutting edge of technology and remaining uniquely familiar with the realities of life for Alaskan pets.  Today they provide comprehensive dermatology, surgery, physical rehabilitation and diagnostics to small animals, operating Monday through Friday.

“I am excited to join the SAGE organization because I feel that our practice philosophies are well aligned. We share the desire to be leaders in our area in providing high quality patient care within our specialties. Joining with SAGE will allow us to expand our resources and the breadth and depth of services that we can offer to pets and their owners in Alaska,” said Dr. Mike Edwards, MS, DACVS, owner and Hospital Director at Veterinary Specialists of Alaska.

“Dr. Edwards, his team of specialists and dedicated staff have set a high standard of specialized care in their region, one that resonates with SAGE’s overall mission, and we’re excited to partner with them.  As this is SAGE’s first venture into Alaska as part of its expansion throughout the United States, the partnership delivers a synergistic approach to our brand of collaborative, compassionate veterinary care,” said Gina Del Vecchio, SAGE Chief Executive Officer.

Wendi Velando Rankin, DVM, MS, DACVIM (Oncology), SAGE’s Chief Medical Officer, stated “Veterinary Specialists of Alaska provides exceptional veterinary care to the Anchorage community and we’re delighted that they have decided to join SAGE to continue our outstanding patient care across the West Coast.”
