Dr. Haley Finstad

Dr. Haley Finstad grew up in Cave Creek, AZ and is excited to be serving her hometown community at AZAH.    She received her DVM from Washington State University in 2015 and has focused her practice on small animals.  She believes there is a special connection with the pet parents of small animals and enjoys seeing these relationships during her visits.  This makes Dr. Finstad a great fit for Arizona Animal Hospital and our WE CARE philosophy.   

Dr. Finstad has always loved animals and grew up around horses.  In her free time, you will find Dr. Haley hiking or trail running around our beautiful North Sonoran Desert terrain and spending time with her son Sawyer.   

Dr. Deborah Johnson

Dr. Deborah Johnson has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Valley of the Sun since 2002 and joined Arizona Animal Hospital in the fall of 2020.

Born in Germany, Dr. Johnson settled in Arizona in 1978. She attended the University of Arizona where she received a B.S. in Animal Science. From there, she traveled to Colorado, receiving her DVM in 2002 from Colorado State University.

Dr. Johnson’s interest in veterinary medicine grew out of a desire to improve lives. Her aim is to make animals’ lives as healthy and happy as possible – and, in so doing, boost the quality of life for the people who care so much about them. Her special interests in veterinary medicine include ultrasound, chemotherapy and surgery.

A member of the Arizona Veterinary Medical Association (AzVMA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and Phi Zeta National Veterinary Honor Society, Dr. Johnson stays active in her profession so she can continue to bring the very best care to her patients.

In her time off, Dr. Johnson enjoys wakeboarding and snowboarding. She also likes to travel and is an avid SCUBA diver, achieving Dive Master certification in 2010.  Dr. Johnson and her husband, Bob, share their home with three dogs: Stout, a big mastiff mix, Roxx, a catahoula mix and a funny corgi/lab named Tipsy.   

Dr. Tressa MacLennan

Dr. Tressa MacLennan is originally from Hudson, Iowa and is a graduate of Iowa State University College of Veterinary medicine.  Growing up in small town Iowa instilled values such as simplicity, hard work, and authenticity.  With over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. MacLennan enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, especially dentistry, preventative care, and surgery.  In alignment with our core values at Arizona Animal Hospital,  she wants you to feel involved in your pet’s care and focuses on providing individualized treatment options for each family she sees. 
Dr. MacLennan and her husband Andy live in Scottsdale with their four dogs — Walter (a rescue Chihuahua mix), Ronnie (Cavalier King Charles Spaniel), Nellie Rose (Golden Retriever) and their newest addition Hudson (Golden Retriever); they also have a rescue Burmese cat named Ricky Bobby.   Her hobbies include walking/jogging dogs, hiking, and golfing. 

Dr. Jen Davis

Dr. Jen Davis grew up in North Scottsdale, Arizona and is excited to be working in her hometown.  Dr. Davis graduated from St. George’s University in 2021 and completed her clinical year at Texas A&M University. Before graduating from veterinary school, she was also a veterinary technician in the valley for 5 years and had the opportunity to intern at the World Wildlife Zoo.

Dr. Davis’s primary focus is small animal medicine. She believes in Arizona Animal Hospital’s service philosophy and enjoys the collaborative approach to patient care. Her goals are to practice effective medicine and to continue her education by staying informed on new medical therapies and diagnostics.

In her free time, Dr. Davis likes to be quite active. She enjoys snowboarding, surfing, scuba diving and water skiing. She has one dog at home, named Nugget (French Bulldog) who has been with her throughout her veterinary journey.  Nugget enjoys swimming and any toy that squeaks!

Dr. Brett Cordes (Brett the Vet)

Founder of Arizona Animal Hospital, Dr. Brett Cordes grew up in Iowa – the heart of the animal health corridor and where many of the major advancements in veterinary medicine were founded.  After graduating from Iowa State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine in 1996, Dr. Cordes has built a diverse career.  His expertise spans time as a practitioner with mixed animals and emergency medicine, a medical director for a national veterinary pharmacy service company, and is also an ongoing consultant to many leaders throughout the veterinary industry to help pioneer better approaches to medicine, patient care and safety. 

Currently, Dr. Cordes is serving a five-year term on USP’s Healthcare Safety & Quality Expert Committee and is also the sub committee chair for USP’s Chapter 800 task force.  The late Senator John McCain also recognized Dr. Cordes for his participation in TGen’s National Advisory Council for Dog and Human Precision Medicine.
Dr. Cordes is an active hiker and enjoys many of outdoor activities with his wife Michelle and two children – Olivia and Clark.  Dr. Cordes’  professional experience, warm demeanor and We Care We Serve philosophy has helped make Arizona Animal Hospital one of leading animal hospitals in the country.
