Dr. Jessica Beymer was born and raised in Berkeley, California. She graduated from the University of California, Davis in 1992 with a Bachelor’s degree in Zoology and minor in English, and finished veterinary school at Davis in 2004. The intervening years were spent as a Registered Veterinary Technician in the small animal Intensive Care Unit, where her mission was to support pets with acute and life-threatening illnesses. After completing veterinary school, teamwork among students, clinicians, and support staff ultimately encouraged Dr. Beymer to pursue a 12-month rotating internship at San Francisco Veterinary Specialists and a three-year residency in Emergency and Critical Care at the Animal Emergency Center in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Dr. Beymer is board certified in Emergency and Critical Care and has published research papers on blood product safety and Dieffenbachia toxicity. Her special areas of interest are transfusion medicine and therapeutic ventilation.
