Caitlan Koontz

Dr. Caitlan Koontz was born in Italy, but was raised in sunny San Diego. She obtained her bachelor's degree in Animal Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and her DVM from UC Davis. After graduation from veterinary school, Dr. Koontz participated in two private practice internships and was an ER doctor at the Angell Animal Medical Center in Boston. After three years at the Angell Animal Medical Center, she returned to her alma mater, UC Davis, to pursue her residency.

Dr. Koontz's interests include acid base and electrolyte derangements, respiratory disorders, sepsis and toxicities, in addition to teaching.

Outside of work, she can be found spending time with her husband Spencer (a fellow veterinarian), her cat Spock, Cavalier King Charles Gideon, and lab Red. She loves football, board games, cooking and is an avid equestrian and swimmer.
